Norman Orville White, 87, of Williamsport, Md., passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at Lorien Mays Chapel in Timonium, Md., after an extended illness.
Born March 28, 1924, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Norman Wesley and Almeda Pearl Hartell White.
He was a 1942 graduate of Fort Hill High School.
He was a supervisor with R. Paul Smith Power Plant, Williamsport, retiring in 1986.
He previously was a shift supervisor of the River Plant in Cumberland.
He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Williamsport and a past member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cumberland.
He was a member of the North American Rod & Gun Club. He was a long-term president of the Van Lear Civic Association. He was a past member of the Fort Hill Rifle & Pistol Club, Cumberland. He was also a member of the Potomac Edison Forerunners Club.
Survivors include daughter, Donna E.W. Hallengren of Timonium; granddaughter, Kelsey L. Hallengren of Timonium; grandson, Karson D. Hallengren of Timonium; sister, Sue Cross of Mansfield, Ohio; and brother, Mark White of Mansfield.
He was predeceased by one brother, John White.
A memorial service will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, on Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. W. Gregory Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
