Clyde L. Strite Jr., 97, of Williamsport, Md., died March 7, 2012 at Ravenwood Lutheran Village in Hagerstown, Md.
Born Dec. 9, 1914, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Clyde Strite and Sudie Minnich Strite.
Cumberland (Allegany, Maryland) He graduated from Waynesboro High School, Class of 1933. Mr. Strite was employed by Potomac Edison Co. for 46 years. His assignments included Waynesboro, Martinsburg, W.Va., Strasburg, Va., Frostburg, Md., Luray, Va., and Hagerstown. He retired in 1980.
He is survived by his children, Larry A. Strite and wife, Nancy, of Shepherdstown, W.Va., Emily Potts and husband, Russell, of Winchester, Va.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Mary Ellen Strite; a brother, John Strite; and two sisters, Louise Harrison and Frances Hauptman.
Mr. Strite was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Williamsport, a member of Masonic Lodge Equality, Lodge 44, Martinsburg, Hagerstown Shrine Club, Ali Ghan Temple of Cumberland, Md., and Royal Order of Jesters Court 117 of Cumberland. He was a member of Hagerstown Elks Club Lodge 378, Kentucky Colonels, and Improved Order of Red Men No. 84.
A memorial service will be held March 17, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor W. Gregory Martin officiating.
