Gilbert P. Bohn, 85, of 16505 Virginia Ave. in Williamsport, Md., went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, March 14, 2012.

Gilbert was born Sept. 4, 1926, in the Bronx, New York City, N.Y. 

The only child of Alfred F. and Louise Faber Bohn, he graduated with the Class of 1943 from Hagerstown High School.

Gilbert served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

After the war, he attended and graduated in 1950 from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. Gilbert then received his Master of Science degree in management from Frostburg State College in 1974.

Gilbert retired from Potomac Edison in 1989 after 39 years of service.

Gilbert is survived by his wife, Ruth. They were married for 61 years. They had three devoted sons, David and wife, Martine, of Germantown, Md., James of Greencastle, Pa., and Jonathan and wife, Alexandra, of Williamsport; three grandchildren, Jason Bohn, Danielle Bohn and Jamie Forrest; two step grandchildren, Jeremiah Itnyre and Sarah Baker; and four great-grandchildren, Cadence Bohn, Noelle Bohn, Brennan Forrest and Camden Baker.

Gilbert was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for more than 70 years.

A memorial service will be Saturday, March 17, 2012, at 4 p.m. at Carlisle Chapel at Homewood, with Chaplain Jeffrey Shull presiding.

There will be no viewing.
