Walter Frederick, Jr., age 92 of Quincy Village and formerly of Cumberland Maryland and Keyser, WV was called home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.

Born June 10, 1922 in Keyser, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Walter Fletcher and Marie E. Steed Frederick, Sr.

He was a 1940 graduate of Keyser High School and attended Potomac State College of West Virginia University. 

On May 24, 1944, he married his late wife, Jane C. Homan. They were married at the Grace United Methodist Church in Keyser; theirs was one of the first war time marriages at the church.

He served three years and three months in the US Army Signal Corps as a Radar Technician in the European and Pacific Theatres and three years in the Signal Corps Reserve.

He was employed by Potomac Edison Company, Cumberland, Maryland for 19 years. He then was employed by PPG Industries Inc. for fourteen years. He also worked as an adjunct Professor of Electro Mechanical Technology at Allegany College of Maryland for eight years.

He was a member of Potomac State College of West Virginia University Alumni Association, Life member of West Virginia University Alumni Association, Life Member of Eta Kappa Nu Electrical Engineering, Honorary Fraternity, Life Member of Davis Lodge #51 A.F.& A.M., Keyser, West Virginia with over 50 years of service and a member of Salem Chapter #18 Royal Arch Masons, Cumberland, Maryland.

He was active in Boys Scouts of America Troop #4, Centre Street Church, Cumberland, Maryland where he was a holder of Boys Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award and was past Chairman of the Boy Scout Committee Troop #4. 

Mr. Frederick was an active member of Centre Street United Methodist Church for over 40 years where he sang in the choirs since 6th grade. He also served as Chairman of the Administrative Council for 3 terms, Chairman of Trustees for 1 term, member of the Sanctuary Choir, and President Fellowship Club for 4 Terms.

He is survived by his son Charles Frederick and his wife Kathy of Carroll Valley, Pennsylvania, four grandchildren: Rebecca Frederick of Washington D.C.; Catherine Frederick of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; Kathryn Heslin of Frederick, Maryland and her fiancé Pablo Pagan of Hagerstown; Benjamin Heslin and his wife Alison and great granddaughter Maggie Heslin of Mountain Home, Idaho.

A Celebration Funeral Service of his life will be held on Monday November 24, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the Lochstampfor Funeral Home, Inc. corners of S. Church and W. Second Streets, Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, where the family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to services. Interment will follow at in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Cumberland, Maryland at 1 P.M.
