Roy Edward Goodman

Roy Edward Goodman, 86, of Lexington, NC, formerly of Frederick, Md, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Hinkle Hospice House.
Born in Frederick County on May 20, 1929, he was the son of the late Minnie Jane Goodman Basham and James Edward Goodman.
He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Dwayne Damuth and Donna and Bill Welty all of Lexington; two sisters, Ella Robertson and Lois Redden, one brother, Basil Basham and wife Carol all of Princeton, W.Va., his three beloved grandchildren, Jeff Welty and wife Elizabeth, Stacy Huss and husband Jeff, Jenny Holder and husband Brad; and the joy of his life, his great grandchildren, Avery and Parker Welty, Naomi Huss and Finley and Josie Holder.
He was a member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Frederick. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and was a lifetime member of the Marine Corp League-Shangri-La Detachment, Frederick and Bull Dog Detachment, Hagerstown. He was a Korean War Veteran and member of the KWV Chapter 142 in Frederick. He was an auxiliary officer for the Frederick Police Dept. and an active member of the Senior Citizens Center in Lexington, where he made many friends in the short time he was in North Carolina. He was retired from the Potomac Edison Company and a member of the Forerunners Club.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday , January 4, 2016 at Stauffers Funeral Home, 1621 Opossum Town Pike, Frederick,Md. Interment will be private in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive family and friend at the Amvets Club, 702 E. South St., Frederick, immediately following the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Roy’s memory to St. Jude, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105 or to Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington,NC 27292.
Piedmont Funeral Home is assisting the Goodman family with local arrangements, and Stauffer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements in Frederick, MD.
