
Robert Callan Carder Jr. 74 of Hagerstown, MD passed away Thursday July 13, 2017. Born March 13, 1943 in Hagerstown, MD he was the son of the late Robert C. Carder and Nellie Draper Carder.
He graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 1962 and attended the University of Maryland.
He was employed by the Potomac Edison Company for 38 years retiring in 2002 as General Manager, Regulatory Services.
Bob proudly served on many volunteer agency, committees and boards: Potomac Edison Employee Committee President, President Potomac Heights PTA, Chairman Y’s Men’s Club and United Way Board of Directors. He served as Chairman of the Southeastern Electric Exchange and President of the MD/DC Utilities Association. He was President of the Maryland Theater, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Board Member of the American Red Cross, Washington County Chapter, Board of Directors American Red Cross Chesapeake Region. He served on the Western Maryland Blues Fest Finance Committee. He was a member of the PE Forerunners Club.
Bob had boundless enthusiasm and love for photography, traveling and the blues. He dearly loved his children, grandchildren, friends and spending time with them.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Carolyn Carder, son Stephen Carder, daughter Sarah Orchard and her husband Nick, grandchildren. Callan, Chloe, Ruby, sister and brother in law Diane and Roy Snyder, brother in law Melvin Sword, sister in law Lori Sword and son Damon, father in law George Sword, many wonderful friends and his four legged companion Baxter.

A casual celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday July 23, 2017 at Cortland Mansion, Hagerstown, MD from 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers memory donations may be made to the American Red Cross Washington County Chapter., 1131 Conrad Court. Hagerstown, MD 21740
