Betty Mae Saunders, 86, of Brunswick, MD passed away at Kline Hospice House, Mt. Airy, MD on Tuesday, January 9, 2018.

Born in Burkittsville, MD, Betty was the daughter of the late John Harold and Luella May (Ausherman) Miller, as well as her late step father, Jay Henry “Cap” Rinker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Lee Miller, sister Jean Miller Wolfe, brothers-in-law Louis “Dutton” Saunders, Lauren Bagley, and Leon Wolfe, sisters-in-law Lena Saunders, Louise Painter, and Betty Saunders.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of more than 60 years, John F. Saunders; daughter Cheryl M. Hoffman of Woodsboro, MD; grandson Jonathan Hoffman and his wife, Kaitlynn, of Brunswick, MD; sister June Bagley of Frederick, MD; brother-in-law Renace Painter of Lovettsville, VA; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Betty was a long time employee of Potomac Edison and a member of the Potomac Edison Forerunners Club.

Betty was a member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, 12 S. Church Street, Middletown, MD 21769 were a memorial service will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Mark Wakefield will preside. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service at the church, beginning at 10:00 AM. Private Inurnment in Locust Valley Bible Church Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made, in Mrs. Saunders’ name, to the above mentioned church; or to Hospice of Frederick County, 516 Trail Avenue, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702. Arrangements entrusted to John T. Williams Funeral Home, Brunswick, MD.
