On June 26, 2019, Eugene Wilson McCauley, Jr., passed at Ravenwood Nursing Care Center at the age of 81.
Born in Cumberland, MD, on September 3, 1937, Gene was the son of the late Eugene Wilson McCauley, Sr. and Edith (Heatwole) McCauley. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Joan (Taylor) McCauley.
His younger years were spent in Romney, WV until his family moved to Petersburg where he graduated from high school. He then continued his education at Potomac State College, Keyser, WV, and West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV, where he received his BA Degree from the School of Business. Go Mountaineers!
While still at the university, he married Nadine “Debbie” Glass, the same year he accepted a position with Potomac Edison. After several moves, the family relocated in Hagerstown where Gene retired from Potomac Edison (Allegheny Power) in 2002 as Assistant Treasurer, after 43 years of service.
Through the years, he was an active member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church as elder, deacon, handbell choir member, and the Presbyterian Men’s Organization.
He was very much a family guy who loved and supported the “kids”.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Mike (Ruthie); and daughter, Kami (James); grandchildren, Sarah, Josh, Kasey, Tyler, Justin, Jeff and Jeremy; great grandchildren, Alexis, Elizabeth, Wyatt, Alex, Abby, Amelia, Journey and Iris; brothers, Jim (Carol) and John (Jenny); nieces, nephews, stepsisters, caring cousins, and former daughter-in-law and friend, Denise.
There will be a visitation one hour prior to the 11am service on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 10813 Donelson Drive, Williamsport, MD 21795. Rev. Mark Sandell will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.
