Betty Louise Sama, 88, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Doey’s House after a brief illness.
Born Monday, September 29, 1930 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Alvin L. Saum and the late Mary Louise (Morin) Saum.
She graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1948 and from Hagerstown Business College in 1949. She was employed with Fairchild for 6 years and retired in 1992 from The Potomac Edison Co. after 32 years of employment. She was a member of First Christian Church, Ladies of the Elks and Associates Lodge No. 378 and the American Legion Post 42 Ladies Auxiliary. She was an active member of the Potomac Edison Forerunners Club. Betty and Vincent enjoyed traveling. They enjoyed cruises to Hawaii, Mexico, and many other ports of call; they visited England, Scotland, and Wales. They also toured all the National Parks. They played cards and dominos with their friends.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Vincent Sama; aunt, Martha Beauchamp; five cousins, Nancy Cowden, Norman Morin, Jr., John Morin, Barbara Bachtell, Charles Beauchamp, Jr. and close friend RuthAnn Palmer
Services will be held Monday, December 31, 2018, at 11:00 am, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD, with the Rev. Jake M. Caldwell officiating.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 31, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Private interment will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.
