Patricia “Pat” Ann Chaney, 82, of Clear Spring, MD, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020.

Born to Harry and Lena (Baker) Reese on May 9, 1938, Pat was raised on a farm in Boonsboro, Maryland, along with her four siblings.

After graduation from Hagerstown High School, she began a career with Potomac Edison. Upon retirement, Pat was a funeral assistant with Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Clear Spring.

Pat met the love of her life, Lloyd “Chick” Alvin Chaney, and they married in May of 1961. She was a loving, supportive wife for more than fifty-nine years; a dedicated mother who treasured her children and embraced time with them; and she especially loved her role as Mimi.

She was an active member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Church Women, the Church Choir and Queen Esther Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 3.

Pat belonged to the Red Hat Society of the Clear Spring area, Dry Run Homemakers, and was a volunteer Maryland Theatre Usher. She was also a former member of the Potomac Edison Forerunners Club. Pat’s interests included devotional study, family, knitting, baking, and watching the Oriole’s. She enjoyed knitting gifts.

Pat is survived by her husband, Lloyd; sons, Eric (Leslie) and Matthew (Mary Beth); grandson, Seth; sister, Betty Jane Hutzel; brother, Perry Reese (Nancy); sister-in-law, Ruby Chaney; brother-in-law, Jerry Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Reese (Rheda); sister, Doris Moore; and two brother-in-laws, Austin Hutzel and Herman Chaney.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

There will be a visitation at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, MD on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 1 to 7 p.m.

Due to current COVID-19 regulations, facial coverings are required and social distancing will be practiced.
