William W. (Bill) Lewis, 85, of Hedgesville passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family.Born January 10, 1938, in Martinsburg, WV, he was the youngest child of Virginia (Grimes) Lewis and Walter J. Lewis, both deceased.

Bill was a life member of the NRA, Jefferson Co. IWLA, Order of the Jungle Cock, Trout Unlimited, and Federation of Fly Fishers. Over the years he was affiliated with Antietam Anglers, Potomac Valley Fly Fishers, and Creekside Anglers Fly Fishers of which he was instrumental in the formation of the local club. Bill’s favorite past-time was when he could be outdoors either hunting, fishing, mentoring children in fly-tying, fly fishing, or teaching the art of safe hunting.

Bill was fortunate to have enjoyed quite a few times hunting out west with his son and good buddies. He also took pleasure in fishing with his son, son-in-law, and grandsons. In later years, he would accompany his grandson Max deer hunting or skeet shooting.

Bill graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1956 and shortly after accepted a job with Potomac Edison, retiring in 1996 after over 40 years of service. He was a member of the PEForunners Club

Bill was a faithful member of Calvary United Methodist Church and served in various capacities.

Married 65 years, Bill is survived by his wife Sharon (Riner) Lewis; son, William Kirby and wife MaryAnn of Berkeley Springs, WV; daughter, Melissa Kingora and husband Mark of Potomac Falls, VA; three grandchildren, Maggie and Max Kingora, and Josh Lewis; and sister-in-laws, Becky Jo Masters (Larry), Chris Holben (Earnie); and numerous nieces and nephews; two great grandchildren, along with many close friends.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law Frances and Peter Sopko, brother and sister-in-law Donald and Deanie Lewis; and Grace and Ray Colbert, his dear aunt and uncle who raised him after the death of his mother.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 11:00am at Calvary United Methodist Church, Martinsburg with Pastor Lynn Wilson officiating.

Interment will be private.
